“I’ll kill every one of you!”

A patient became angry that he had not received medication for sickle cell pain. As the attending physician, I went in to clarify the primary reasons for his visit, accompanied by my nurse. He was yelling "I'm going to kill every one of you nurses!" Prior to my intervention, he had threatened to kill the nurses and kill my resident because they were not addressing his pain.
