  • On April 14, ACEP, along with other provider groups, participated in a listening session with CCIIO and other federal agencies implementing the No Surprises Act. ACEP and EDPMA had previously written a letter to these same agencies that laid out our positions and recommendations on the major new policies included in the law. This listening session provided an opportunity for us to reiterate some of the points we made in the letter.   • On April 13, the FDA and CDC announced jointly that they recommended a pause to the use of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine as both agencies investigate six cases of a rare and severe type of blood clot that individuals developed after receiving the vaccine.
  • On April 9, the CDC issued new guidance on the use of PPE, specifically N95s. In the guidance, the CDC acknowledges that the supply and availability of NIOSH-approved respirators have increased significantly over the last several months.
  • April 5 marked the effective date for the data sharing and information blocking requirements under the 21st Century Cures Act. Read here for more.
  • President Biden announced that by no later than April 19th, in every part of this country, every adult over the age of 18 will be eligible to be vaccinated.
