Reimbursement Committee

The ACEP Reimbursement Committee (R/C) identifies and analyzes the commercial and governmental payer reimbursement environment as it pertains to emergency medicine and assists in positioning the College appropriately on issues of importance. It concentrates on audit activity and payment policies to identify and analyze reimbursement challenges that impact emergency medicine and recommends strategic solutions. The R/C supports ACEP’s team on the Relative Value Update Committee (RUC), investigates ways for emergency medicine to be represented in alternate payment models, including episodes of care and population health, use of telehealth from the ED, and monitors reimbursement activity at the state level. This committee also produces and updates reimbursement related content found on the ACEP website including, FAQ sets, and the annual What Every Graduating Resident Needs to Know about Reimbursement paper.
