Coding & Nomenclature Advisory Committee

The Coding and Nomenclature Advisory Committee (CNAC) identifies and analyzes Medicare, Medicaid, and private payer claims processing policies that deviate from CPT principles and/or documentation guidelines, as well as tracks payer issues such as denials, rates, appeals, and pay for performance to recommend strategic solutions. It also supports the ACEP CPT Team in identifying and presenting new or revised codes to the AMA CPT Editorial Panel relevant to emergency medicine practice and monitors evolving ICD-10 codes to help justify medical necessity. CNAC also produces and updates educational content on the ACEP website, including the popular FAQ sets and supporting content.
