Council Teamwork Award – Nicole A. Veitinger, DO, FACEP

Dr. Nicole Veitinger has been an ACEP member since residency at the MetroHealth/Cleveland Clinic/Case Western Reserve University program from 2009 to 2012, serving as chief resident. She is a Past President of the Ohio Chapter and a member of the  Ohio ACEP Board of Directors since 2015. She is a former co-chair of the chapter’s Leadership Development Academy and current member of the Bylaws, Government Affairs, and Membership Committees. Dr. Veitinger chaired the Ohio Workplace Violence Workgroup, which ultimately led to the passage of Ohio House Bill 452 in 2025. She received the Bill Hall Award for Service in 2024, the highest honor given by the Ohio Chapter.

Dr. Veitinger has been elected as an Ohio Councillor since 2014 and has served as Ohio Councillor delegation leader from 2023 to 2026. Within Council, she is the current Chair of the Tellers, Credentials, & Elections Committee. She has also participated in the Reference Committee, both as Chair and as a member. Dr. Veitinger is currently on the national Steering Committee and recently served on the Council Task Force on Voting and Elections. She is Immediate Past Chair of the ACEP Membership Committee and sits on the Board of Governors for the ED Accreditation Program.

Previous service includes the Member Engagement subcommittee for ACEP's Strategic Plan and the ED Reproductive Health and Patient Safety Task Force. She is a graduate of the Ohio University (Heritage) College of Osteopathic Medicine, where she met her husband. They live in Columbus, Ohio, with their two children, who refer to her as “Mister Doctor Mommy” on occasion. Dr. Veitinger is an attending physician and partner with Mid-Ohio Emergency Services, a democratic group covering multiple central Ohio EDs. She is Medical Director of the Westerville Emergency Care Center.
