Dr. Aaron Snyder is an emergency medicine physician whose career has spanned domestic, international, and austere medicine on four continents. He earned his undergraduate degrees in Chemistry and Biology from Iona College. He earned his Doctor of Medicine from Florida State University College of Medicine and completed residency in Emergency Medicine at the University of Connecticut.
Over the past decade, Dr. Snyder has practiced in Level 1 trauma centers and community emergency departments across the country, while also serving as a physician on the National Disaster Medical System's Trauma Critical Care Team. His interests in international and austere medicine have taken him to rural clinics and disaster response missions in the Americas, Africa, the Middle East, and Asia. A defining experience of his career came in 2017, when he served as a clinical team leader in Mosul, Iraq, providing trauma stabilization and care to those injured during the humanitarian crisis brought on by the ISIS military campaign.
Alongside his clinical work, Dr. Snyder has long been committed to medical education, teaching medical students and residents both in the U.S. and abroad. In recent years, his focus has expanded to healthcare policy at the state and federal level. During his tenure as NM ACEP president, the legislature passed medical malpractice reform, and the governor signed it into law.
Outside of medicine, Aaron enjoys reading, writing, and teaching personal finance and investing to fellow physicians. He also loves traveling with his wife, Heather, and their two daughters, ultra-endurance cycling and racing, off-piste skiing, scuba diving, and visiting national parks.
