Join us for Virtual Grand Rounds. This free, online series is a great way to educate your residents and yourself.

This program was designed by ACEP’s Academic Affairs and Education Committee with you and your programs in mind during this difficult time of physical distancing.

Highlights of the ACEP Virtual Grand Rounds:

Arun Nagdev, MD
Director, Emergency Ultrasound, Alameda Health System – Highland Hospital

Dr. Arun Nagdev is the current director of emergency ultrasound at Highland General Hospital (HGH) and Clinical Associate Professor at University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), School of Medicine. Dr. Nagdev finished residency at Kings County Hospital / SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn and then a POCUS fellowship at Alameda Health System/Highland Hospital in Oakland. 

Along with publishing more than 100 peer-reviewed articles in emergency ultrasound and numerous book chapters, Arun is a staff writer for ACEPNow. Dr. Nagdev has received numerous teaching award from Highland Hospital, Brown University and UCSF School of Medicine. He regularly lectures nationally and internationally, and is the current President of the ACEP Ultrasound section.

Dr. Nagdev is also Senior Director of Education at Exo, Inc.

Justin Cook, MD, FACEP
Emergency Physician and Director of Education, Northwest Acute Care Specialists, Emanuel Medical Center, Portland, OR

Dr. Justin Cook is the Director of Education for Northwest Acute Care Specialists, an EM group staffing the seven hospitals of the Legacy Health System in the Portland, OR area. He trained at Highland Hospital.  He plays drums with Radical Revolution and his areas of special interest are airway management, ultrasound, and in-situ simulation.

Mikaela Chilstrom, MD, RDMS, FACEP
Clinical Attending Faculty, LAC+USC Medical Center, University of Southern California

Dr. Mikaela Chilstrom is an Emergency Physician with over a decade of experience in teaching emergency ultrasound in both United States and international settings.  For the past five years Dr. Chilstrom has lived overseas (Kenya, Tanzania, and most recently Namibia), while simultaneously serving as a clinical attending faculty at the LA County + USC Medical Center.  Dr. Chilstrom graduated magna cum laude from Princeton University and earned her MD from University of California San Francisco.  She completed her residency and chief residency in Emergency Medicine at Jacobi and Montefiore Medical Centers and an ultrasound fellowship at SUNY Downstate.  She has previously served as Ultrasound Fellowship Director at Emory University and Director of Medical Student Ultrasound Education at the University of Southern California. She is the author of more than two dozen peer-reviewed publications and has extensive experience lecturing and teaching hands-on ultrasound courses at regional, national, and international meetings.

Sierra Beck MD, FACEM
Senior Lecturer - University of Otago, Department of Medicine & Consultant Dunedin Hospital Emergency Department

Sierra Beck is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Medicine at the Otago Medical School working clinical as an ED doctor at Dunedin Public Hospital in Dunedin, New Zealand. She completed Emergency Medicine residency at the University of California- Davis in  Sacramento, California and an Ultrasound Fellowship at Emory University in Atlanta, GA.  She is interested in all things ultrasound including development of procedural skills in early ultrasound learners,  ultrasound in undergraduate medical education, and the impact of artificial intelligence integration on point-of-care echocardiography.
