A New Chapter for ACEP Now

For years, ACEP Now has helped keep emergency physicians informed about and engaged with the issues that matter most to the specialty. Now we are excited to share the next evolution of that mission.

ACEP Now will transition from its traditional print publication model to a dynamic digital newsletter. The new approach, set to debut in late January 2027, is built around the simple goal of meeting you where you are. You can expect shorter, more accessible content delivered in a format designed for your busy round-the-clock schedule. It will make it easier for you to stay informed whether you’re between shifts, on the go, or catching up at the end of a long day.

The newsletter, publishing every other Friday, will allow ACEP to provide more frequent updates, link to more member resources, share more member stories, and highlight the wins and innovations shaping the profession. It also gives us greater flexibility to respond quickly to emerging advocacy issues.

The decision to suspend print operations effective December 31 also reflects escalating postage, paper, and printing costs. Prices have spiked year over year, and this year alone, USPS implemented two price increases: a nearly 5% overall mailing rate hike and an additional holiday-season surcharge. These challenges affect the whole industry and are not limited to a single publisher, but our current publishing partner Wiley informed us that they could no longer support publication due to escalating costs. In fact, we estimate the annual cost of printing and mailing the publication currently exceeds our annual budget for all other marketing and communications activities combined.

Even in the face of these industry headwinds and budget realities, our commitment to informing, supporting, and advocating for emergency physicians remains stronger than ever. The extensive collection of articles and resources from past issues of ACEP Now will remain available through an online archive at acepnow.com. Many stories in the new digital format will be found there as well. This new format will offer enhanced member engagement, multimedia, and innovative advertising and sponsorship opportunities that can support continued growth.

Most importantly, the newsletter lets us deliver more of what you value most: timely information and insights and storytelling reflecting the strength and resilience of emergency physicians.

You don’t have to do anything to receive the new version of ACEP Now, as all ACEP members will be automatically subscribed to the new digital format. There also will be more opportunities for members to contribute content than ever before.

Your readership and your contributions have helped make ACEP Now what it is today, and we look forward to continuing that connection for many years to come.
