Sim Based Neonatal & Maternal Skills for the EM Provider Course
Exposure to pregnant patients in high-risk scenarios by EM providers is often limited in real-life. A combination of didactic and simulation-based refresher training in neonatal resuscitation and obstetrical high-risk presentations can improve clinical performance. Overall Activity Objectives:
• Review the proper maneuvers for delivery of a fetus in various positions.
• Review the management of high-risk obstetrical conditions including postpartum hemorrhage, hypertensive disorders of pregnancy, and shoulder dystocia.
• Provide training and hands-on practice of neonatal resuscitative skills, including intubation and umbilical venous catheter placement.
• Demonstrate competence in the management of two simulated high-risk obstetric and neonatal case presentations.
