Can We Skip the Spinal Tap? An updated PECARN clinical
prediction rule—using urinalysis, procalcitonin, and ANC—is
highly effective at identifying febrile infants <= 28 days old at low risk for invasive bacterial infections. but how many infants will still be stratified as “high-risk”? the rsi trial: is ketamine truly the "stable" choice for intubation? for years, the medical community has debated whether etomidate’s adrenal suppression or ketamine’s hemodynamic profile makes one or the other a superior choice for crashing patients. the rsi trial provides a clearer picture. but have we truly closed the door on this debate? double the bleed, same the risk? validating mbig for combined intracranial hemorrhages. while patients with combined ich (cich) often have higher injury severity scores and slightly longer icu stays, they do not have a higher risk of clinical deterioration compared to those with isolated bleeds. will these suggested criteria reduce admissions, unnecessary transfers or neurosurgical consults in your practice or this all just mbig to-do about nothing? through in-depth analysis and collaborative discussion of these articles, we aim to inform and enhance our approach to emergency medical care.>=>
