Scott Pasichow

MD, MPH, FACEP

Dr. Pasichow serves as co–course director for Practice Essentials of Emergency Medicine and is the lead author for the Billing and Coding module.

He is an assistant professor at Rutgers University New Jersey Medical School and assistant EMS medical director at University Hospital Emergency Medical Services in Newark. He previously served as an EMS medical director at St. John’s and St. Mary’s Hospitals in Springfield and Decatur, Illinois, from 2020 to 2023, where he helped implement a tiered response plan for the city of Springfield and represented EMS physicians, Illinois College of Emergency Physicians, and the Illinois State Medical Society on state legislative advocacy efforts.

Dr. Pasichow received his medical degree from Rutgers New Jersey Medical School and completed his emergency medicine residency at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island.

Dr. Pasichow is both an advocate and EMS physician. He has served the specialty of emergency medicine as speaker for the Emergency Medicine Residents’ Association (EMRA), where he helped found EMRA’s Health Policy Fellowship, and has fostered the leadership pipeline within the Emergency Medicine Section Council at the American Medical Association. He has completed grant-funded research on trainee usage of family leave, publishing data to support and focus his advocacy work.

He is dedicated to improving the work and home lives of emergency physicians and trainees. Dr. Pasichow has also served on the ACEP Council, representing EMRA, the Young Physicians Section, and the Illinois College of Emergency Physicians. He was a 2022 recipient of the Council Horizon Award.
