End Of Shift Tips

By Meredith Waldon, MD

The end of the shift is a hurried struggle to wrap up patients, sign notes and fit in that last consult or procedure. Even more stress is added when you know your child and the daycare are waiting for you. To help make the transition from nonstop ER doc to loving and patient mommy, we suggest a simple wardrobe change. Wear an extra shirt or have an extra top stashed in the car. When you leave the hospital, shed your scrub top and symbolically the stress along with it. Feel the new shirt against your skin, take a breath and enter the daycare ready for the next adventure.
