Step Into “The Pitt”

A View from the Front Lines

Emmy Award-winning medical drama "The Pitt" brings everyone right into the nonstop action of the emergency department.

The intensity, pressure, and pace of emergency medicine makes for incredible television. For our emergency physicians, the show is a remarkably authentic look at a lived reality that few people outside the profession ever truly see.

"The Pitt" is an unfiltered look at a day in the life of an emergency physician, the trained experts who manage life’s scariest medical emergencies. "The Pitt" peels back another layer to shine a light on health system dysfunction and the challenges facing the people who have chosen this career.

  • "The Pitt" gives everyone a rare and authentic view of what it’s like to practice emergency medicine. This show offers a unique glimpse of the humanity of emergency care and what it takes to heal people within a broken system.

The nation’s emergency physicians are incredibly proud of the show and grateful for the chance to be seen for who we are, the challenges we face, and the work we do every day.

Supporting Emergency Physicians in Your Community

The challenges don’t stop when the credits roll. ACEP tackles the biggest issues facing real emergency physicians every day, advocating for policy solutions and systemic changes that empower physicians on the job and ensure the viability of our health care safety net.

Emergency physicians respond to medical emergencies without hesitation, including mass shootings, natural disasters, public health crises, and more. They navigate overcrowded and under-resourced facilities, and they can be counted on to show up, day after day, when people need them most.

Every emergency physician carries the impact of their best days and their hardest choices, long after a shift ends. Behind every harrowing moment is a person driven by an unshakable commitment to care for anyone, anytime.

ACEP is incredibly proud to be the unified national voice of emergency physicians.
