Clinical Policies Committee

The Clinical Policies Committee is a 29-member committee consisting of 27 emergency physicians, an emergency nurse, and an advocate for patient safety. The objective of the Clinical Policies Committee is to provide evidence-based clinical practice recommendations on topics important to emergency medicine and ACEP membership. ACEP clinical policies are developed in accordance with accepted guideline development standards and all practice recommendations are informed by a systematic review and critical appraisal of the available medical literature.

The Clinical Policies Committee’s primary responsibility is to develop clinical practice guidelines (clinical policies) in accordance with the general principles and methodology advocated by the National Academy of Medicine. Applicants must be or have been appointed to the Clinical Policies Subcommittee and have completed at least one clinical policy.

Please consider bringing your unique perspective to ACEP and the Clinical Policies Committee by completing the ACEP Online Committee Interest Form.
