Reasons You Should Promote Your Work at Research Forum 2023

By Claire Pearson, MD, MPH, FACEP | Research Forum Chair, 2023

As we approach our May 3rd deadline for submissions, I wanted to take a minute to explain why ACEP's Research Forum is a great place to promote your work.

The Research Forum Chairs have worked tirelessly over the past years to enhance your experience. They work closely with ACEP leadership and the program planning committee to provide a more streamlined and mainstream program.

Research is presented side by side with educational programs. In addition, ACEP has added new leadership, with Dr. Martin Wegman as the Senior Research Fellow and Dr. Jonathan Fisher, Senior Director, joining the team of four chairs. RF also has administrative support from Grants and Research Manager Marla Payne.

I have worked with Drs. Margaret Greenwood Ericksen, Amber Sabbati, and Marna Greenberg year-round to promote academic advancement and solicit an audience to provide a collegial atmosphere for networking and feedback. Every abstract accepted to the research forum is moderated. Moderators are vetted, often coming from a research background and frequently members of the ACEP research committee. This means there are research experts along with other EM physicians in the moderated sessions, allowing presenters to network with their peers, exchange ideas and discuss the next stages of your research. In conjunction with the research committee members, research is promoted on social media through tweets and postings.

Special programs presented by the research forum include State of the Art (SOTA) lectures which provide CME for attendees. This year, the SOTA lectures are sponsored by ACEP committees, adding the depth of experts on cutting-edge research. There is also an editor’s pearls workshop that allows all-comers to ask questions to current Annals of Emergency Medicine and JACEP Open editors for feedback on getting your manuscript to publication.
