Proud to Represent You

As we deal with this crisis, I wanted to take a moment to say how proud I am to advocate on your behalf. Thank you, thank you for everything that you do!

I also want you to know that ACEP is doing everything that we can to try to get you the resources that you need. We are constantly reviewing guidance released by federal and state agencies and posting key information on our website. We are also listening to you—and relaying your questions and concerns to key Congressional leaders and Administration officials.

For example, right after CMS released telehealth guidance on Tuesday, ACEP met with CMS officials to discuss how the guidance affects emergency physicians, and what additional action, such as modifications to the Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act (EMTALA), may be necessary. Further, yesterday, ACEP President Dr. Bill Jaquis met with Vice President Pence and other Administration officials as part of a small group of physician associations that were invited to speak to the Administration about the COVID-19 response. During the meeting, Dr. Jaquis had the opportunity to present some of the key challenges that you are facing and highlight our key policy requests (many of which were outlined in a letter we sent to the Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services last week).

I know you have been bombarded with new guidance and important information, so please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions. I may not have the answer, but I will try my best to track it down!
Lastly, I encourage you, if you haven’t already, to join our online ACEP member coronavirus communication hub, through engaged.acep.org. This is a great way to ask your questions, share best practices, and learn from others.

Until next week, this is Jeffrey saying, enjoy reading regs with your eggs!
Unfortunately, there will be no podcast this week.
