ACEP Statement to Emergency Physicians on Surprise Medical Billing Act

December 14, 2020

ACEP leaders and DC staff are thoroughly engaged in breaking down the No Surprises Act, which addresses surprise medical billing and was released by Congress late Friday evening. We are working to achieve the best possible scenarios for emergency physicians and your patients, as the Act is not yet final.

As part of our work on your behalf, ACEP has been in close communication over the weekend with key Congressional offices, as well as our colleagues in the Out of the Middle Coalition. ACEP was instrumental in creating this Coalition of medical specialty societies to ensure a federal solution to surprise billing that is fair to physicians.

The Capital (30) Minutes webinar on Wednesday will have a deep dive into the details of the Act about what it could all mean for you, and you can read ACEP's letter to Congressional leaders here. Know that ACEP is dedicated to protecting your interests, showing our specialty’s value and shaping the future of emergency medicine.
