Annals Social Media Editor Assistant

Job Description/Performance Objectives

The Social Media Editor Assistant will support the Social Media Editor in managing and growing the online presence of Annals of Emergency Medicine. This includes helping with content creation, scheduling, analytics, and coordination across platforms. The ideal candidate is organized, creative, and comfortable with academic or medical content. The amount of time needed for this role is 1-2 hours/week. The term is one year and renewable. This is a volunteer position designed to provide valuable experience in academic social media management and medical publishing. While there is no stipend, it offers strong opportunities for mentorship, collaboration, and CV enhancement.

Key Responsibilities

1. Creating & Scheduling Content
   • Assist in selecting articles for content, including collaborating with authors.
   • Helping with scheduling posts across all Annals platforms
2. Content Monitoring & Engagement
   • Assist in tracking comments, mentions and other forms of engagement
3. Cross-Platform Coordination
   • Sharing content with ACEP, Elsevier, EMRA and other EM partners
4. Analytics & Reporting
   • Help track and organize engagement data for quarterly and annual reports

Skills & Qualifications

• Strong familiarity with social media platforms (X, Instagram, Facebook, Bluesky, LinkedIn)
• Excellent writing, editing, and attention to detail
• Organizational skills to manage posting schedules, deadlines, and content libraries.
• Ability to collaborate asynchronously with editorial staff, authors, and fellows.

Preferred, but not Required

• Experience with graphic design (Canva, PowerPoint) for creating professional visual content.
• Previous involvement in medical education, FOAMed, or professional society communications.
