ACEP ID:
The ACEP Emergency Medicine Data Institute (EMDI) Opioid Use Disorder (OUD) Data Dashboard highlights national performance across U.S. emergency departments (EDs) on key OUD quality measures, including naloxone dispensation and buprenorphine administration—evidence-based interventions that reduce overdose risk and support engagement in treatment. Data are sourced from ACEP’s EMDI registry and are updated quarterly to reflect evolving practice patterns. Developed through a collaboration between Yale University and ACEP, this work was supported by the National Institute on Drug Abuse and its HEAL (Helping to End Addiction Long-term®) Initiative, with additional partnership from the Health Data2Action Program. The data dashboard is intended to increase safer opioid prescribing, naloxone distribution, and initiation of medication for OUD in the ED, as well as to increase national reporting on ED OUD care quality by emergency physicians and EDs.
