7th Annual ACEP Ambassador Conference

Sunday, October 27, 2019 7:30am-2pm
Colorado Convention Center, Room 403

The ACEP Ambassador Program’s purpose is to provide ACEP leaders and staff with access to a special network of internationally oriented member experts who can provide advice and information pertaining to the progress and status of emergency medicine in the countries where they have been assigned and to serve as ACEP representatives in these countries. In as many as 80 countries, ACEP members have been representing the college collaborating with EM leaders and their organizations and engaging their local partners to participate in ACEP activities as well.

The ACEP International Conference started from an ACEP Section Grant to allow face-to-face meetings that offer the opportunity to share experiences and to work collectively to advance emergency care worldwide. Each year we have ACEP Ambassadors, Liaisons, interested International Section Members and other guests from all over the world participating in the one-day pre-conference event coinciding with the ACEP Scientific Assembly. These crucial meetings allow the Ambassador Program to recruit and train ambassadors, update and share resources including country reports and educational or advocacy tools. The meeting also allows the implementation of strategic initiatives to explore opportunities for ACEP to participate and support programs outside of the US and to encourage participation in EM meetings abroad.

This year, we expect our biggest crowd ever with participants representing Emergency Medicine in over 30 countries. We will facilitate the sharing of ideas, innovative programs and best practices amongst ambassadors. We have a full day planned, including a New Ambassador and Liaison Roundtable, reports on the implementation of the WHO Basic Emergency Care Course and a look into Ethiopia’s role in the adoption of a World Health Assembly Resolution on Emergency and Trauma Care. We will present the first year of the Ambassador Mentorship Program and will engage everyone in breakout sessions before our annual awards and luncheon. We cannot wait to see all of you in Denver for what we hope will be our best ambassador conference yet!
