Odds and Ends

It’s Official - “Chocolopolis” Unqualified Success!

The first Exploring Retirement Section Zoom meeting April 3 was stupendous. Updates from all revealed that very few have really retired, but most of us are involved in things we do for fun, not the pay.

The business meeting, with reports from our affinity groups, section updates, and a historical minute, showed the ability of the group to accomplish much in short order.

Following business, the pièce de résistance, the 1+ hour hosted chocolate tasting reception led by Chocolopolis’ Chief Chocophile Lauren Adler. Armed only with what, on arrival, had appeared to be a small package of chocolates, we were enthusiastically educated on the geography, genetics, biology, horticulture, harvesting, and processing of cacao beans. Using five senses (sight, touch, smell, hearing, yes hearing, and of course, taste), we appreciated the nuances of seven fine chocolate samples.
