Lance Brown, MD, MPH, FACEP, has served as a senior content editor for Physician’s Evaluation and Educational Review in Emergency Medicine (PEER) since 2019 and as a content contributor on the Editorial Board since 2002. Dr. Brown serves as the vice chair for the Department of Emergency Medicine at Loma Linda University Medical Center, and he is currently a professor of emergency medicine and pediatrics at the Loma Linda University School of Medicine. From 2008 to 2016, he also served as the director for the Pediatric Emergency Medicine Fellowship Program at Loma Linda University Medical Center and Children’s Hospital. Dr. Brown earned his doctor of medicine degree from Harvard Medical School and holds a Masters of Public Health from the Harvard School of Public Health. He completed his residency in emergency medicine at the Los Angeles County + University of Southern California program and his fellowship in pediatric emergency medicine at Loma Linda University Medical Center and Children’s Hospital. He is board certified in emergency medicine and pediatric emergency medicine by the American Board of Emergency Medicine.

In addition to PEER, Dr. Brown coedited the textbook Pediatric Emergency Medicine and has over 100 publications to his name, including 47 peer-reviewed publications. As a recognized expert in pediatric emergency medicine, Dr. Brown has given over 250 lectures, and he was invited to speak at ACEP Scientific Assembly in 2007. Dr. Brown served ACEP as the chair of the Section Affairs Committee from 2004 to 2007 and as the secretary, chair-elect, chair, immediate past chair, alternate councilor, and councilor of the Pediatric Emergency Medicine Section. He also completed a 6-year term on the Emergency Medicine Review Committee of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education. Dr. Brown has received multiple awards in recognition of his clinical performance, teaching skills, and community service, and he was awarded Speaker of the Year at the USC Essentials of Emergency Medicine Course in 2004 and 2005.
