ACEP Wellness Resources

Emergency medicine is a stressful career; we inundate ourselves with suffering every day that we work. The COVID19 pandemic obviously adds an additional especially heavy burden. How we deal with these stressors is highly individualized but some common themes ring true for all of us. ACEP has a variety of free resources available. Even if you feel like you are “dealing with it” just fine, I highly recommend you check out some of these resources so you can pass on what you learn to others.

The ACEP home page has a Crisis Support & Wellness link that we should all check out. There are links to free counseling, online therapy, peer to peer support, and a physician support line. There is this great list of relevant TED talks, access to Headspace Plus (for US-based physicians and nurses), and much more.

The ACEP Wellness Section has a variety of resources including a Wellness Guide pdf. Written by Drs. Rita A. Manfredi, MD, FACEP; and Julia M. Huber, MD, FACEP, The Wellness Guide Book: Being Well in Emergency Medicine: ACEP’s Guide to Investing in Yourself is available for free download

If you have a favorite wellness resource, please share via EngagED.

Stay healthy and happy whenever you can. We are in this together.
