ACEP 2022 Recap

It was great to connect with many of you at ACEP 2022! There was a lot afoot- between the pre-conferences, didactics, research presentations and, of course, our section meeting!

Geriatric Pre-Conference"Transforming Tricky Transitions: Optimizing care transitions for older patients in your emergency department”. We had a great 3.5-hour pre-conference covering care transitions – including ED & home, ED & intra-facility, and ED & long term care facilities. But if you missed it, no worries! We recorded the session and are currently matching up the recording with the presentation slide deck. We’ll let you know once its ready to watch!

GEMS Section Meeting: During the GEMS section meeting we thanked Dr. Lauren Southerland for her amazing leadership over the past 2+ years. She led the section with innovation, enthusiasm, and great humor! Under her tenure, our section collaborated with other sections on QI oriented projects, contributed to ABEM MOC review, and created the all-important GEMS boxing match. This year we had three matches, looking at the important topics of dementia screening, trauma center transfers, and deprescribing. During our meeting Shan Liu was awarded the Silver Birch Award for excellence in service to geriatric emergency medicine. The section meeting was chocked full of information this year: Updates on GED Projects and Opportunities, ACEP Council Update, GEDA Update, Geriatric Project: GEDA Care Processes update, Geriatric “Boxing” Match: 3 Cases, and our Sponsor Presentation given by Epic.
