National Emergency Medicine Faculty Teaching Award

Purpose of Award

Given to an outstanding educator who demonstrates superior clinical teaching. The award is designed to support emergency medicine (EM) faculty in their efforts to achieve academic achievement.

The award is recommended for faculty who are seven (7) years post-residency.



Current ACEP member at time of nomination who:

  • Holds an academic appointment at a United States allopathic or osteopathic medical school and is at the instructor, assistant professor, associate professor, or professor level
  • Is board certified in EM by ABEM or ABOEM or in pediatric EM under ABP
  • Has not previously won the award


Application Process

Application form completed by the nominating EM chair, program director, or chief

Letters of endorsement from the EM chair, program director, or chief, as well as the program's current residents

Documentation of teaching ratings and awards, educational efforts, ACEP educational programs, and major innovative educational programs

Demonstration of teaching experience and commitment to excellence



Complimentary registration to ACEP annual Scientific Assembly, two tickets to President's Award Reception, recognition at the Academic Affairs Committee meeting
