Emergency Medicine Practice


Design and execute research projects designed to improve the practice of emergency medicine, physicians’ satisfaction, and well-being, and provide data to enhance advocacy efforts to improve patient care. Ensure a successful Research Forum, EMBRS course, and assigned grants.

The SVP for Clinical Affairs will work with the Senior Research Fellow to determine an identified work schedule that encompasses 10 hours per week, during which time the individual is an ACEP employee and will be required to record their time.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Work with the Grants and Research Manager to ensure the full execution of assigned grants. These may include but not be limited to grants from the CDC, FDA, and other Federal agencies.

  2. Work with the Grants and Research Manager to ensure a successful Research Forum. Ensure that abstracts are successfully uploaded, reviewed, and fairly selected. Oversee the agenda for Research Forum. Select didactic speakers and other educational sessions for the meeting.

  3. Work with the Grants and Research Manager to ensure a successful EMBRS course. Meet with course directors and provide feedback and suggestions for future courses. Develop and execute an international version of EMBRS.

  4. Work with the EM Practice Data Analyst/Scientist/Architect on assigned grants. Provide feedback and oversight to EMPRN.

  5. Work with the EM Practice Data Analyst Scientist/Architect management of the objectives of the Research Committee.

  6. Work with the EM Practice Data Analyst coordination of activities of the Research, Scholarly Activity and Innovation Section.

  7. Design and execute original research projects designed to improve the EM practice environment and assist with advocacy for EM physicians and their patients.

  8. Participate in the development of research grants that are written and submitted by the Director of Grants and Foundation Development. Be willing to serve as PI on selected grants.

  9. Travel to headquarters, Board meetings, Scientific Assembly, and LAC may be required.

  10. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Required Education and Experience

  1. MD/DO.

  2. Board certification in Emergency Medicine.

  3. Demonstrated research skills.

  4. Peer reviewed publications.

  5. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects.

  6. Five years’ experience in Emergency Medicine.

  7. ACEP membership

Other Desired Qualifications

  1. Master's in public health or other advanced degree in research with a healthcare background.

  2. Completion of EMBRS or similar research training.

  3. Current appointment as faculty within a School of Medicine in the US.
