Education Program Development Manager


Educational Meetings


Plan and manage the development, faculty and evaluation of assigned educational meetings, including developing product evaluation systems, program policies and procedures, and coordination of CME approval for all meetings assigned to the department.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities

  1. In a hands-on environment, plan and manage the development and evaluation of new and existing educational meetings including onsite evaluation and implementation activities for the annual citywide convention with more than 250 CME courses as well as several educational conferences, webinars, virtual/hybrid meetings and other educational activities throughout the year.

  2. Manage the submission, review, acceptance and presentation management process for all assigned ACEP meetings and virtual events in accordance with established timelines.

  3. Manage speaker/presenter participation including extending invitations, collecting required disclosures, biographies, photos and ensuring that all required information and actions meet established requirements and timelines.

  4. Manage all designated meeting content and presenter information, including updates for the content database for use on the ACEP website, in print materials, and mobile applications.

  5. Identify optimal delivery methods to maximize content impact and engagement, including traditional and non-traditional learning formats for both live and virtual settings.

  6. Identify attendee engagement opportunities for omni-channel events, including session polling, Q&A sessions, meeting content evaluations, discussion groups, etc.

  7. Serve as primary liaison with presenters for ensuring adherence to speaker agreements and guidelines.

  8. Manage evaluation of meeting content through analysis of evaluation reports, attendance data, and access of meeting content across multiple channels.

  9. Provide guidance and background data to the Educational Meetings Subcommittee to ensure outcomes goals are achieved for curriculum design, content development, evaluation and feedback systems, and education delivery mechanisms; provide regular updates to Subcommittee regarding assigned meeting development activities and responsibilities.

  10. Plan and participate in committee meetings and assignments, ensure accurate minutes are recorded within 15 days of meeting and provide support for Educational Meetings Subcommittee; serve as staff liaison to the subcommittee’s Faculty Incentives Task Force.

  11. Supervise and participate in the maintenance of faculty and course databases, diversity and inclusion tracking spreadsheet, and course proposal process for committees and sections of membership.

  12. Ensure all department e-files are accurately maintained and complete as they relate to educational programming and faculty.

  13. Ensure documentation needed for educational grants is provided in a timely manner.

  14. Work in tandem with the Educational Meetings Administrative Coordinator to ensure assigned duties are accurately completed within established timelines, and that delays are reported, problems resolved, etc., providing guidance to the Coordinator when challenges are presented; ensure faculty reimbursements/contract payments are processed within 15 days after each conference.

  15. Develop educational policy proposals for the Educational Meetings Director’s consideration; recommend and implement policies and procedures governing faculty.

  16. Participate in the development and implementation of strategic marketing plans for educational meetings including analyzing the market trends and future education needs in emergency medicine, as well as develop, edit and proof promotional copy, ensuring that ACCME-required components are included and that appropriate CME credit is obtained by Educational Meetings Coordinator from outside organizations (e.g. AAFP, AOA, AAP, AAPC, etc.).

  17. Maintain knowledge of ACCME Policies & Procedures and ACEP CME Department’s procedures to ensure compliance in the development, promotion, and implementation of assigned educational meetings; serve as liaison to ACEP CME Department to learn processes and provide oversight of Educational Meetings team’s compliance with these rules and procedures.

  18. Research and monitor trends in health care education through regular review of pertinent literature, maintaining contacts with a variety of health care organizations, maintain awareness of direct competitors in the emergency medicine CME arena and regularly share with team and subcommittee  potential new speakers, new conference design concepts and other ideas.

  19. Gather information on specific issues as needed for product research and development, working closely with appropriate College departments.

  20. Monitor the CME industry to identify potential joint ventures or acquisitions for consideration by the Educational Meetings Director and Managing Director, Education and Management Services, as appropriate.

  21. Contribute to the improvement and development of processes, best practices, standard setting and outcomes.

  22. Develop and manage budgets, as assigned. 

  23. Participate in the College’s strategic planning process.

  24. Attend educational and business meetings as assigned.

  25. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Required Education and Experience

  1. Bachelor’s degree, preferably in education, instructional design or adult education, or equivalent related experience developing and evaluating continuing medical education
  2. Minimum of three years of content management or meeting management experience including demonstrated educational program planning and evaluation skills
  3. Demonstrated organizational and project management skills handling multiple projects and shifting priorities
  4. Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to write and edit education program copy (eg course descriptions) with precision and persuasion
  5. Minimum of three years supervisory experience with ability to effectively drive execution and foster innovation
  6. Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, databases, and ability to learn and utilize new technology platforms
  7. Highly motivated, organized, proactive, problem solver with strong attention to detail
  8. Customer focused
  9. Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  10. Ability to travel occasionally

  5. Experience in association management; medical specialty society experience is an asset
  6. Related professional credentials (CAE, CMM, CMP, etc.)Association management experience
