Emergency Medicine Practice
Work with physician members to develop, review, and update ACEP’s Clinical Policies; review and edit documents for completeness and accuracy; track and report on trends for policy, product and program development; and make recommendations to ensure that the College is appropriately positioned on clinical practice issues.
Initiate, draft, edit and coordinate development of materials for ACEP’s clinical policies and related material by facilitating literature acquisition, revising drafts, circulating material for comments, collating and summarizing responses, contacting expert reviewers, and facilitating problem resolution.
Provide appropriate training and oversight of the weighting and grading of evidence-based literature.
Monitor and analyze the clinical practice of emergency medicine environment and make recommendations to appropriate College leaders, committees, staff, and external entities on policies and programs.
Develop and maintain networks in the clinical community so that ACEP’s clinical policies and related clinical materials are promoted and recognized in organizations such as the ECRI Institute, AHRQ, NQF, AMA, residency programs, and related guideline development entities.
Provide project management for grants awarded to ACEP related to the clinical practice of emergency medicine.
Review and edit (for content, accuracy and format) clinical policies and related articles for Annals and other publications used to promote clinical policies.
Identify, recommend, and manage resources related to the abstracting of clinical policies.
Make recommendations to the ACEP president and other leaders for liaison and other appointments associated with the clinical practice of emergency medicine.
Coordinate the review and drafting of responses on behalf of the ACEP president and the College to other organizations that request comment on clinical practice and pertinent issues related to emergency medicine.
Develop, recommend, and maintain relationships with other specialty societies and external entities developing clinical policies in order to facilitate the submission of clinical policies to ACEP for consideration and comment.
Attend business and educational meetings as assigned by supervisor.
Assist in the editing and production of policies and papers produced in the Emergency Medicine Practice department.
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Associate Executive Director, Clinical Affairs
All ACEP departments
ACEP members, committees, subcommittees, task forces and sections; other professional and medical organizations; governmental organizations such as AHRQ; consultants; attorneys; medical librarians; risk managers; quality managers/directors
Five years related experience including project management
Bachelor’s degree; a degree in clinical, health, life science or equivalent related experience in evidence-based medicine, clinical practice guidelines, or in healthcare research
Experience working with physicians or health professionals
Experience with various computer software systems (word processing, spreadsheets, graphics)
Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
