Christina Shenvi, MD, PhD, MBA, FACEP - Course Director

Dr. Shenvi is a tenured Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine at the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill. She received her bachelor’s degree from Princeton University, her PhD from UC-Berkeley, and her MD from Yale. She completed residency in Emergency Medicine (EM). 
 
She is fellowship-trained in Geriatric EM, launched the Geriatric EM podcast, GEMCAST, and has served on the board of governors for the ACEP Geriatric ED accreditation. She also completed her executive MBA from the UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School. Dr. Shenvi currently serves as Director of the UNC Office of Academic Excellence, as well as president of the Association for Professional Women in the Medical Sciences. 
 
She is also a member of the leadership council of the UNC Academy of Educators, where she co-created the FLAGship program for junior faculty development. She was the Associate Residency Director for EM at UNC for 7 years. She co-directs the national ACEP/CORD teaching fellowship. 
 
Her teaching and educational leadership skills have been recognized with multiple awards, including the 2015 UNC Academy of Educators teaching award, 2017 CORD faculty teaching award, the 2019 ACEP national junior faculty teaching award, and the 2020 UNC Academy of Educators GME teaching award.
 
Dr. Shenvi is a passionate educator and has received multiple institutional and national teaching awards. She has a passion for teaching, learning, deliberate practice, and innovative pedagogy.
