The Health Care Administration, Leadership, and Management (HALM) Board Review Course is being presented at ACEP26 in Chicago in partnership with the American Association for Physician Leadership (AAPL) on October 4, 2026. Dr. Daniel Handel, author of Healthcare Administration, Leadership, and Management (HALM): The Essentials, serves as the Executive Course Director for this one-day intensive board review course.
Registration for the HALM conference within a conference is now open with ACEP26 registration here. Cost to attend is $1,500, and participants will be eligible for up to 6 CME credits from the AAPL.
The HALM Board Review Course is designed for physicians aiming for HALM subspecialty certification. This course unites expertise across medicine, health systems science, quality and safety, business, public health, communication, computer science, economics, and law. The course aims to strengthen your command of executive leadership and governance to create change in complex systems.
ABEM is scheduled to proctor the next HALM exam on November 9-23, 2026. The exam application window closes August 31, 2026. The HALM exam contains 180 board questions—four 50-minute testing sessions with 45 questions in each session.
