Dr. Kara B. Goddard, PharmD, BCPS, is a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist in Emergency Medicine and a charter member of the Emergency Medicine Research Division at the University of Missouri Health Care. Her extensive research portfolio includes serving as an investigator for major multi-center clinical trials, including the NIH-led ACTIV-6, ACTIV-2, MARC-45, MK-4482-013 platforms, alongside multiple industry-sponsored and investigator-initiated trials. Additionally, her research interests include investigations into target-controlled infusion for procedural sedation in the emergency department, and she is an author and co-author on multiple peer-reviewed manuscripts and abstracts.

In 2025, Dr. Goddard was invited to serve on the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) Research Academy Advisory Board. She is a graduate of the 2019 Emergency Medicine Basic Research Skills (EMBRS) course (now known as the ACEP Research Academy) and is a recipient of a research grant from the Emergency Medicine Foundation (EMF).

As a clinical pharmacist and researcher, Dr. Goddard established the Emergency Medicine clinical pharmacy service at the University of Missouri Health Care in 2012, following the completion of her residency training at Grady Health System. She is an active member of the Academy of Emergency Medicine Pharmacists (AEMP) through the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine (SAEM), recently serving as Chair of the Career Development Committee. She also contributes to the academic community as a peer reviewer for medical manuscripts and textbook chapters.
