Adam Tobias, MD, MPH, FACEP

Adam Tobias, MD, MPH, FACEP, has served as a senior content editor for PEERprep for Physicians and PEERprep for Programs since 2019 and as a content contributor on the PEER Editorial Board since 2014. Dr. Tobias is an associate professor of emergency medicine at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine in Pennsylvania, where he also completed his doctor of medicine degree, residency, and EMS fellowship. In addition, he earned his Master of Public Health from the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health. Dr. Tobias is also the associate residency director and codirector of the fourth-year medical student clerkship in emergency medicine. He is extensively involved in EMS medical direction and disaster preparedness, and he serves as an assistant medical director for Pittsburgh EMS. 

Dr. Tobias has written numerous textbook chapters and has given presentations at local, regional, and national meetings. He leads several medical student and resident courses, including the emergency medicine residents’ Difficult Airway course and the Get Ready for Residency course, and he has a special interest in simulation. He is also the creator and course director of a Bystander Emergency Response elective for first-year medical students. Dr. Tobias has received numerous awards, including the Arnold P. Gold Foundation Humanism in Medicine Award and the Clinical Educator of the Year Award from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine in 2014; the Alpha Omega Alpha Faculty Award from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine in 2016; and the Young Educator of the Year Award from the Clerkship Directors in Emergency Medicine in 2016.
