Frances Russell, MD, FACEP

Section Editor, PEERcert+ Advanced Ultrasound

Frances Russell, MD, FACEP, has served as a section editor for PEERcert+ Advanced Ultrasound for the Focused Practice Designation in Advanced Emergency Medicine Ultrasonography (AEMUS) since 2021. She is currently an associate professor of emergency medicine and a research director in the division of ultrasound at the Indiana University School of Medicine. She earned her doctor of medicine degree at the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Medicine and Public Health. Dr. Russell completed her residency training at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine. She also completed an ultrasound fellowship at Rush Medical Center and Cook County Hospital in Chicago, Illinois. Dr. Russell has a particular interest in ultrasound for acute heart failure and undifferentiated shortness of breath.

Dr. Russell previously served on the Critical Care and Research subcommittees for the ACEP Emergency Ultrasound Section. She has been a speaker at the ACEP Ultrasound Management Course, Rocky Mountain Winter Conference, and The Heart Course. She received the 2021 SAEM Academy of Ultrasound Academic Excellence Award and has authored 26 peer-reviewed publications studying ultrasound.
