Megan Fix, MD, FACEP

Megan Fix, MD, FACEP, has served as editor-in-chief for PEERprep for Physicians and PEERprep for Programs since 2021. She served as a senior content editor for PEER (Physician's Evaluation and Educational Review in Emergency Medicine) in 2020 and as a content contributor on the PEER Editorial Board in 2019. Dr. Fix currently serves as an associate professor and the director of education for emergency medicine at the University of Utah School of Medicine in Salt Lake City. She was previously an assistant professor and student clerkship director in the department of emergency medicine at Maine Medical Center in Portland. Dr. Fix earned her doctor of medicine degree from Stanford University School of Medicine in California and completed her residency at the Harvard Affiliated Emergency Medicine Residency Program in Boston, MA — where she served as chief resident in her final year.

Medical education has been a key focus of Dr. Fix’s career. In addition to leading residency educational projects, she has also been heavily involved in medical student education, serving as the course director for the MS4 Capstone course and the MS1 Clinical Skills course at the University of Utah School of Medicine. Dr. Fix has also been involved nationally with the Council of Residency Directors in Emergency Medicine (CORD), serving as the director for the Best Practices track, chair of the Education Committee, and overall conference chair in 2017. She has lectured nationally on many aspects of medical education at multiple conferences, including CORD Academic Assembly, the Society of Emergency Medicine’s Annual Meeting, the American Medical Association’s ChangeMedEd, and the Association of American Medical Colleges’ Western Group on Educational Affairs. She has authored multiple publications in the field of medical education and is currently a reviewer for Academic Emergency Medicine Education and Training. In addition, Dr. Fix has received multiple teaching and mentoring awards.
