Nicholas Stark

Nicholas Stark, MD, MBA, FACEP, is a board-certified emergency physician and healthcare leader working at the intersection of clinical care, operations, and innovation. He serves as Chair of Emergency Medicine and Director of Operations at Mercy Medical Center in Merced, CA, where he leads a department serving 75,000 annual visits, is overseeing the hospital's rollout of Level III Trauma designation, and founded the Acute Care Innovation Center. A former Chief Resident at UCSF, he continues to practice and teach there. As Vice President of Clinical Strategy at Lotus Health AI, Nicholas is building the company's clinical research arm and leading physician onboarding and experience for a national cohort of clinicians. Nationally, he serves as Vice Chair of the ACEP Quality Improvement & Patient Safety Committee, founding co-director of the ACEP/EMRA Practice Essentials of Emergency Medicine curriculum, and co-founder of the Emergency Medicine Innovation Collaborative, a network of more than 500 members. Outside medicine, Nicholas is an instrument-rated pilot, a musician, and the first medical student to run a marathon on all seven continents.
