Richelle Cooper

MD, MSHS, FACEP

Richelle J Cooper MD, MSHS is a Professor of Emergency Medicine at the David Gefen School of Medicine and UCLA Health, and Vice Chair of Research at the UCLA Department of Emergency Medicine. She is co-Principal Investigator for the Southwest hub within SIREN (Strategies to Innovate EmeRgENcy Care Clinical Trials Network), has led multiple research projects with funding from AHCPR, NIH, PCORI, and the DoD, and has authored more than100 peer-reviewed publications. She is an editor for the Kaji Emergency Medicine Board Review Book. Richelle joined the editorial board of Annals of Emergency Medicine as a Methodology and Statistics Editor in 2000.  She has served as Executive Deputy Editor at Annals of Emergency Medicine since 2022. Her research interests include healthcare disparities, social emergency medicine, gender disparities, overuse and low value care, and the science of peer review.  She currently serves on the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine Foundation Grants Review Committee and is Vice Chair of the American College of Emergency Physicians Research Committee.
