Edward Barthell

MD, FACEP

Dr. Edward Barthell is the Director of the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) Emergency Medicine Data Institute (EMDI).  He is also CEO for EmOpti, a company focused on improving acute care through advanced analytics and telemedicine technology.  He has recently been working on a variety of projects using artificial intelligence (AI), including decision support during triage and support for quality initiatives and clinical research.  Dr. Barthell served for many years as a leader of a regional emergency medicine practice based in Wisconsin, served as Vice President and Medical Director Americas for Caradigm, and before that he served as Director of Connected Health for Microsoft Health Solutions Group.
