The HL7 Common Model of Emergency Care Information: Driving Innovation Through Standardization

Dr. McClay has worked with HL7 for many years and has been instrumental in the development of a variety of HL7 products in the Emergency Care domain. He is currently representing ACEP as chair of the HL7 Emergency Care Workgroup developing standards for electronic health records. He has written and lectured extensively about the use of Electronic Health Record Systems. His research in the field of biomedical informatics over the past 20 years has focused on information modeling and standards development for health information technology. His current interests include training the next generation of clinical informatics specialists, optimization of electronic health record system value and the use of information technology to support clinical and translational research.
