Jay Mullen, MD, MBA, FACEP

President and Chief Executive Officer, BlueWater Health

Dr. Mullen is the President and Chief Executive Officer of BlueWater Health, a 100% physician owned democratic Emergency Medicine group based in Maine, Vermont and Massachusetts. Dr. Mullen works clinically in a wide variety of locations ranging from busy urban emergency departments to critical access hospitals 30 miles out to sea. He is the Chair of ACEP’s Democratic Group Practice Section and a long-serving member of the Reimbursement Committee.  As one of the founders of the Emergency Medicine Business Coalition (EMBC), he serves on its Board of Directors and is chair of the Collective Purchasing Committee.

In Maine, chairs the Maine ACEP and Maine Medical Association Legislative Committees. Dr. Mullen studied political science and economics at Brown University and attended medical school at the University of Connecticut.  He completed an emergency medicine residency at the University of Arizona in Tucson.  Since residency, he has lived in Maine with his wife and two sons.
