How to maintain US machines in ED?
I am the ultrasound chief for the residency program here in Michigan, and we have had some issues with damaged US equipment. Probes have been chipped, wires run over, machines tipped over, etc. Not all of these issues were covered under warranty, and it has become a huge issue within the hospital as to where the money is going to come from to pay for repairs.
I would like to know if there are any good suggestions out there as to how to maintain the machines and keep them from being damaged. Although the residents tend to use the machines the most, I feel that often RNs or NCAs/techs tend to move the machines (out of kindness) and that is when they often can be damaged.
This has become a issue for the hospital and residency as we have 3 beautiful machines that we want to keep up with.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
