Vice Chair
Dr. Keesandra Agenor graduated from New York Medical College and completed her emergency medicine residency training at SUNY Downstate/Kings County. She became the first Clinical Forensic Medicine fellow at NYC Health + Hospital (NYCHHC) Kings County, prior to expanding the program as the Fellowship Director. She currently serves as the Medical Director of the Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) at NYCHHC Kings County, Woodhull, and South Brooklyn Health Hospitals. She is proud to hold her newest position as the Vice Chair of the ACEP Forensic Medicine Section.
Dr. Agenor has always had an interest in advocating for justice, support, and adequate resources for the healing of survivors. Her passion for advocacy was sparked as a student at Barnard College of Columbia University, where she served at the Crime Victims Treatment Center (CVTC) as a domestic violence and rape crisis counselor.
She is a trained New York Sexual Assault Forensic Examiner (NY-SAFE) and currently working on multiple initiatives with the Mayor’s Office, District Attorney’s Office, NYPD, EMS-FDNY, and the Office of Chief Medical Examiner. Dr. Agenor believes that these multidisciplinary efforts will catapult a transformation in our emergency departments, shifting them from solely functioning as a safety net to becoming a more welcoming environment that aims to prevent additional trauma.
