Is your EMS system using vehicle crash data that is being transmitted to PSAP?

Is your EMS system using the vehicle crash data that is currently being shared by many of the automakers directly to 9-1-1 Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) and EMS dispatch personnel? This crash data is known as Advanced Automatic Collison Notification (AACN) and provides important information immediately after a crash that can be used by EMS crews as part of their patient assessment.

To learn more about how this crash data can be used in your system and earn free CME credit? Click on the link below to take the free online training course “Implementing AACN Protocols in EMS Systems.”*2Fitem*2Feid*2F303055

The American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) is excited to help announce the Until Help Arrives program, which was developed to educate and empower the public to take action and provide lifesaving care before professional help arrives.  We hope that you will find this information helpful in preparing to act when the need arises.

The Until Help Arrives program encourages the public to take these five steps in situations where someone may have a life-threatening injury due to trauma:

  • Call 9-1-1
  • Protect the injured from harm
  • Stop bleeding
  • Position people so they can breathe
  • Provide comfort

You can find more information on the Until Help Arrives program at
