Drugs to prevent COVID-19: living guideline

Overview

The WHO Living guideline: Drugs to prevent COVID-19 contains the Organization’s most up-to-date recommendations for the use of drugs to prevent COVID-19. The latest version of this living guideline replace to previous interim guidance and is available in pdf format (via the ‘Download’ button) and via an online platform and is updated regularly as new evidence emerges.  

The latest version (version 1, published 24 March 2023) contains important updates to recommendations which relate to:

  • ** UPDATED ** the strong recommendation against the use of hydroxychloroquine prophylaxis to individuals who do not have COVID-19, which has been updated with new evidence.
  • ** UPDATED ** the conditional recommendation against the use of tixagevimab-cilgavimab to individuals who do not have COVID-19.
