FDA and CDC Guidance on Respirators

UPDATE (March 10): CMS issued a memo to state surveyors to ensure that their monitoring policies align with the new FDA and CDC guidance on respirators.  


The FDA and CDC issued guidance allowing respirators that are approved by National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), but not currently regulated by the FDA, to be used by health care professionals during the COVID-19 outbreak. This policy is intended to significantly increase the number of respirators that are available to health care workers.
