Advocacy

Are you concerned about where emergency medicine is going and who is working for your personal concerns?  Emergency Physicians face a wide variety of challenges in an era of rapid change.  We must be united to protect our specialty and to protect our patients.

The Colorado Chapter of Emergency Physicians is your voice for those concerns!

Who is Colorado ACEP?

The Colorado ACEP Board of Directors and Committee Members are a very diverse group of practicing emergency physicians.  They include academicians, private practice physicians, large group, small group, individual physicians, board certified, non-board certified, rural, urban, residents, medical students, democrats, republicans, and independents.  Despite the varied background, they work together for the common goal of furthering the specialty of emergency medicine in Colorado. Colorado ACEP is YOU!!

Educational Programs

CME approved courses are offered throughout the year - throughout the State - on a variety of timely topics.  From pediatrics to management, from resident job hunting to research forums.  Colorado ACEP strives to meet the current educational needs of emergency physicians.  Members enjoy considerable savings at Colorado ACEP conferences...

  • Rocky Mountain Trauma and Emergency Medicine  Conference
  • Research Forum

Legislative Initiatives

One of the important values of Colorado ACEP membership is having your rights and interests represented at the State Capital.  As a strong, unified professional organization we have taken many steps to empower physicians and protect our patients. We have enjoyed several important successes as a result.

Ongoing activities include:

  • Medicaid Reimbursement
  • Medical Liability Reform
  • Emergency Medical and Prehospital  Services
  • Seat Belt Legislation
  • Statewide Trauma System

Important Liaisons

Colorado ACEP staff and members have worked hard to form relationships throughout the State resulting in open communications, increased visibility and inclusion with agencies and organizations such as the Colorado Department of Public Health, The Colorado State Legislature, The Colorado Hospital Association, The Colorado Medical Society, COPIC; as well as third party payer representatives.

Colorado ACEP Goals

Colorado ACEP is committed to protect the longevity and future of individual physicians, our patients, and emergency medicine as a specialty. This includes involvement in education of medical students, residents, emergency physicians, our patients, and the general public.  We promote policies that preserve the integrity and independence of emergency medical practice.  We support emergency physician representation within medical organizations and academic institutions.  Colorado ACEP represents the interest of all Colorado emergency physicians.
