Experts in instructional design and academic emergency medicine have taken this very popular and successful program and updated it to meet the needs of today's emergency physician. This program is designed for faculty in residency programs who want to improve their skills, residents interested in an academic career, and other physicians who have responsibility for teaching emergency medicine.
The goals of the Fellowship are to help you:
- Develop the skills needed to become successful in an academic environment
- Become an excellent academic instructor
- Enhance your management and leadership skills
The Fellowship focuses on:
- Fundamentals of teaching and evaluation
- Designing effective and efficient instruction
- The realities of competing demands of an academic career-publishing, teaching, research, clinical work

This program consists of 11 days covered in two sessions (fall and spring). Between sessions you will work on the development of instructional materials under the guidance of faculty. This important project will allow you to explore a special area of interest and develop a valuable educational product for your program. All participants share and report the results of their projects during the spring session.

Registration is limited. Classes fill rapidly on a first-come, first-serve basis. Class slots are filled from the waiting list. You will be contacted as soon as a slot is available. Course dates are set approximately a year in advance.
Your registration fee covers the entire cost of the 11-day, two-session. Meals and living expenses are not included.
Cancellation with full refund will be accepted only if written notice is received 30 days prior to the workshop start date. Cancellations received with less than a 30 day notice are subject to a $500 cancellation fee. You can avoid this penalty by substituting another faculty member from your institution. All registrants must be prepaid.
