Letter from the Chair
Brenna M. Farmer, MD, FFAEM, FACEP, FACMT
Welcome to the ACEP QIPS newsletter. As the Chair of the section, I am looking forward to this year and what it has to bring for the section. We will be continuing our efforts to have an active, productive section. Josh Glazer, our Newsletter Editor, is already continuing the excellence with our newsletter. Jamie Santistevan, our Website Editor, has great things in store for updates to our section website and all it has to offer. Our Chair-Elect, Brian Sharp, is working on a new proposal and letter of intent for a Section Grant.
I look forward to facilitating our conference calls and All-Section meetings as we move forward into 2017. I want the members of our section to be involved and learn about new and innovative ways to improve quality and patient safety for Emergency Department patients. In that effort, I want our members to reach out to the leadership team with ideas for All-Section calls, grant proposals, and other areas where we can make an impact. We will also be working to complete our current section grant on the Boarding of Behavioral Health Emergency Patients in the ED. With this grant, we seek to define the problem of boarding these patients, why they board, and ways to decrease boarding of these ED patients and facilitate their treatment. This grant will culminate in a white paper to be published. Please reach out to us if you are interested in participating.
Happy New Year!
