Defines clinical ultrasonography as a diagnostic modality
ACEP believes that certification by non-emergency medicine external bodies is inadequate.
The American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) believes that the quality of patient care is enhanced when emergency physicians interpret and record the results of the diagnostic studies they order at the time of service.
Emergency physicians have the training and expertise to perform and
interpret diagnostic ultrasound examinations and ultrasound guidance
procedures in the emergency department (ED) setting, and should be fairly
paid for providing those services.
