Katherine A. Hochman
Katherine A. Hochman is the Associate Chair of Quality for the Department of Medicine at NYU Langone Medical Center, where she also serves as the Assistant Chief of the Medicine service. Katherine was the first Hospitalist at NYU Langone Medical Center and became an Associate Program Director for Tisch Hospital in 2004. She received a Teacher of the Year Award in 2005. She became the first Director of the Hospitalist program in 2007. Under her leadership, the group grew from 1 FTE in one hospital in 2004 to 27 FTE and 2 hospitals by 2015. She has worked on innovative ways to improve staffing, the weekend signout process and care delivery on the floors with the Hospitalist Scholars program, Face-to-Face At-the-Bedside Weekend Signout and geographic wards. She has published and presented nationally on the Discharge Before Noon Initiative and the 7 day hospital initiative. Kathy has served as an ad hoc editor on the Journal of Hospital Medicine and the American Journal for Quality. She has received Green Belt Training in Lean Six Sigma teachings. Kathy was awarded a Faculty AOA award at NYU's chapter in 2014. Kathy is a graduate of the University of Miami School of Medicine (1999) and University of Miami School of Business (1995) and graduate cum laude with a double major in Biology and English from the University of Pennsylvania in 1994.
