Emergency Ultrasound Management Course Subcommittee

The ACEP Emergency Ultrasound Management Course will be held on Sunday, September 30, 2018 from 8:00 am - 5:30 pm in San Diego, CA. Registration for ACEP18 and the Emergency Ultrasound Management Course should open around June 1. After the courses, there will be a combined reception for faculty and registrants from 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm.

In 2018, the Emergency Ultrasound Management Course will have 2 full-day options: Core or Advanced. 

Core Track

Is emergency ultrasound something that you have wanted to get into your department but have been unable to achieve or are you a fellow preparing to graduate and need management expertise?  The solution is the ACEP Emergency Ultrasound Management Course Core Track. This course is designed for physicians or coordinators who are starting a new program, or want some advice for improving an existing program. The core topics include the role of the director, specifics of machine purchase, and a very thorough explanation of billing. The speakers are the national experts successful in implementing emergency ultrasound programs. Additionally, there are small breakout group discussions covering a wide range of topics so bring your questions and challenges from your own institutions. This course is not about how to perform ultrasound exams.The core track is designed for physicians or coordinators who are starting a new program, or want some advice for improving an existing program. Attention US fellowship directors and US fellows: This track covers the Administrative topics of the Core Curriculum of Clinical Ultrasonography.

Advanced Track 

The advanced course is for ultrasound directors with existing programs who have attended the ACEP Emergency Ultrasound Management Course at least once and have an interest in expansion and maturation of their program. There is special focus on ultrasound education facets as well as evolving issues like International, Reimbursement, Credentialing and QA. The sessions include  incorporating simulation, multihospital group issues, advanced billing concepts, safety and accreditation, and running an institution-wide ultrasound program. Additionally, there are small breakout group discussions covering a wide range of topics with many experts so bring your questions and challenges from your own institutions. This course will take your program to the next level!  This course is not about how to perform ultrasound exams.
Attention to US directors: Accreditation and topics related will be discussed in this track.

The Emergency Ultrasound Management Course was started as part of an Emergency Ultrasound Section Grant. The first course was October 16, 2004 in San Francisco. Since 2010, course attendees have been granted CME credit.
